I believe this is my most successful image because the subject matter is highly intriguing. I captured this at Longwood Gardens, and the arrangement of the orchid pots closely relates to the potted plants in the inspiration photo by the photographer I aimed to emulate. Additionally, I transformed the image into black and white to align with the photographer's style, as their work was exclusively done in black and white. This image is particularly strong due to the high contrast in the subject matter. Even in black and white, the intricate details are clearly visible, which adds depth and texture to the composition.
The most challenging aspect of this assignment was selecting the inspiration images. I wanted to highlight their influence in my work while presenting the subject matter differently, yet still in the photographer's style. It was a creative challenge to avoid directly recreating the images and instead make it appear as though the photographer themselves could have crafted these pieces. Finding the right location, angles, and subjects required thoughtful planning.
In the future, to create even stronger images, I can take more shots of a subject when I find something worth photographing. Experimenting with various angles and settings will provide a broader range of options to choose the best image for the intended scenario. This practice will help me better convey my vision and improve my overall photography skills.
